Cirque de Soleil is basically an event that has a mix of circus events and street entertainment. This is a Canadian based company that came into existence in 1984. The best part of Cirque de Soleil is that each show of Cirque has a unique dramatic scene or a story line.

Cirque deals with characters with a fine plot and unlike regular circus events, animals are excluded in its events. Between 1990 and 2000, it gave over 19 shows in 271 cities excluding Antarctica. Currently Cirque de Soleil consists of 4,000 performers from 40 countries. They create estimated annual revenue of US$810 million.

Cirque de Soleil has won several awards and rewards. It won Bambi Award in 1997, Rose d'Or in 1989, Drama Desk awards in 1991 and 1998, four Primetime Emmy Awards and three Gemini awards. Also, Circus de Soleil gave a star to Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Projects:

Cirque de Soleil undertook several projects to educate youth besides promoting some brands. It's popular projects include Cirque de Monde-a social action project targeted towards youth, Jukari Fit to Fly-a fitness programme that promoted Reebok, Safewalls-an artistic project that promoted circus, Desigual-Cirque promoted Desigual clothing brand and finally the famous Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away.

Cirque de Soleil took part in 74th Academy Awards in 2002 and gave 30-minute performance at celebrity cruise ships-Constellation and Summit. Recently it was in news for a legal case that was filed for firing an employee for having tested HIV positive.
