Born in Canada, Neil Young was a young boy when he discovered a variety of musical genres, including rock and roll, rockabilly, doo-wop, R & B, and country.   In high school, he would form his first band known as The Squires and play local folk clubs, where he would eventually meet Stephen Stills and Joni Mitchell. 

After touring Canada in the mid sixties as a solo act, Neil moved to Los Angeles and formed Buffalo Springfield and recorded three albums from 1966 to 1968.  He would also release his first solo album "Neil Young" in 1968, as well as joining Crosby Stills and Nash to record the album "DeJa Vu."

By 1972, Neil would record his fourth album "Harvest" featuring the single "Heart of Gold," which would become a massive hit and begin to thrust him into fame which he didn't necessarily want!  He would continue to record music and tour world wide while constantly trying to re-invent his music, and by 1989, would have nineteen albums to his credit.

After some deeply experimental sounds which actually resulted in a lawsuit by his current record label, he would produce the album "Freedom" in 1989, featuring the single "Keep on Rockin' In The Free World," which would thrust him back to the mainstream.
