Pinstripe Bowl Tickets

As one of college football's newest postseason events, the Pinstripe Bowl is generating plenty of interest. Pinstripe Bowl tickets enable fans to experience college football in quite a unique environment.

Pinstripe Bowl Tickets: Historical Overview

While the original Yankee Stadium was a historic baseball venue, the stadium was also the site of some memorable college and pro football games over the years.

In the first half of the 20th century, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Army Black Knights were two of college football's top programs. From 1925-46, the two powerhouses faced each other 21 times at Yankee Stadium. The final matchup in the stretch was one of the most famous games in the history of college football. In an epic battle, second-ranked Notre Dame and top-ranked Army played to a scoreless tie in 1946.

From 1956 until early into the 1973 season, the NFL's New York Giants played at Yankee Stadium. In 1958, Yankee Stadium hosted one of the greatest games in the history of the NFL. In the league's championship game, the Baltimore Colts pulled out a dramatic 23-17 overtime victory over the Giants. With a huge television audience, many point to this thrilling game as a turning point for the ultimate growth of the NFL.

The football history at the old Yankee Stadium played a role in the creation of the Pinstripe Bowl in 2010. The new Yankee Stadium (capacity of 54,251) was a fitting choice to be the site of the Pinstripe Bowl. The postseason contest has established league tie-ins with the Big East and Big 12 Conferences.

Pinstripe Bowl Tickets: Memorable Highlights

In 2010, the Pinstripe Bowl was launched with a matchup between the Syracuse Orange and the Kansas State Wildcats. With a chance to play in its home state, Syracuse was eager for its first bowl game in six years. In a thrilling contest, Kansas State scored a touchdown with just over a minute to play to pull within two points of the Orange.

However, a controversial celebration penalty was called against the Wildcats on the score. This forced Kansas State to try a two-point conversion from nearly twenty yards away. An unsuccessful conversion helped Syracuse prevail in a 36-34 victory.
