Trace Adkins was born and raised in Sarepta, Louisiana, where he began playing the guitar at a young age under his father's guidance.   In high school, he was part of the gospel music group, the New Commitments.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech University, Trace would go on to work on an oil rig, where he accidentally severed his pinky finger!  He had the doctors re-attach it at an angle so he could continue to play his guitar.

By the early nineties, he was playing in various honky tonks in and around Nashville, at which point he was discovered by an executive of Capitol Records.  By 1996, he would record his first album "Dreamin' Out Loud" which featured his first number one hit "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing."  By 2003 he had released his fifth studio album "Comin' On Strong" which featured a top 5 hit "Hot Mama."  That same year he was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry!

By 2010, Trace Adkins had released his ninth album "Cowboy's Back In Town" featuring the single "This Ain't No Love Song."

Trace has made several television appearances, including Extreme Home Makeover and Celebrity Apprentice and has been nominated for four Grammys.
