Portland Trail Blazers Tickets

After two straight playoff seasons, the Portland Trail Blazers bring plenty of optimism into this year. With one of the most devoted fan bases in the league, Portland Trail Blazers tickets are valued commodities in the Pacific Northwest.

Portland Trail Blazers Tickets: Franchise Overview

The Portland Trail Blazers came into the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1970-71. As the first and only major pro sports team in the state of Oregon, the Trail Blazers have been extremely popular since coming into the league.

After winning 29 or less games in each of its first four seasons, Portland had the top choice in the 1974 NBA Draft. With the selection, the club was able to select one of the greatest players in the history of college basketball. The arrival of UCLA center Bill Walton would transform the fortunes of the franchise.

Over the next three decades, the Trail Blazers would become one of the most consistent and successful squads in the league. In a stretch of 27 seasons from 1976-77 to 2002-03, Portland missed the playoffs only once.

Portland's Championship Season

With Walton limited by injuries in his first two seasons, the Trail Blazers were still trying to build a foundation heading into the 1976-77 season. Under new head coach Jack Ramsey, Portland put together the first winning season in the history of the franchise with a 49-33 record.

In the playoffs, the Trail Blazers advanced into the conference finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. In a battle of UCLA star centers, Walton's Trail Blazers swept Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Lakers to reach the NBA Finals.  In a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland lost the opening two games of the series before rallying to win the championship.

In the early nineties, the Trail Blazers won a pair of conference titles behind star forward Clyde Drexler. Portland lost the 1990 finals to the Detroit Pistons and fell to the Chicago Bulls two years later in the league's championship series.

Home Arena

Since the 1995-96 season, the Trail Blazers have played at the Rose Garden (capacity of 20,630). In a solid environment, Portland Trail Blazers tickets provide plenty of thrills during the hoops season.
