Formed in San Diego by vocalist Tim Lambesis in 2000, As I Lay Dying was named after the title of a William Faulkner novel.  In 2001, they signed with Pluto Records, and in June of that year, released their first studio album titled "Beneath the Encasing of Ashes." 

The following year, the band would record five songs as part of a split album with the band "American Tragedy."  In 2003, the band would sign a new contract with Metal Blade Records and began seeing an increase in popularity.  They would release "Frail Words Collapse," which would make it to #30 on the Billboard 200 Independent Albums chart! 

In June of 2005, As I Lay Dying would release their third studio album "Shadows are Security," which would debut at number one on the Independent albums and would peak at #35 on the U.S. Billboard 200!  To support their latest release, the band would participate in the Hell on Earth, Ozzfest, and Winter Headline Tours. 

By 2010, the band would have released two more studio albums in "An Ocean Between Us," and "The Powerless Rise."  They have also been named the Band of the Year at the 2008 San Diego Music Awards and were also nominated for a Grammy for their single "Nothing Left."  Get your As I Lay Dying tickets now!
