Ben Folds Tickets

Ben Folds, a singer/pianist, has experienced success as both a solo artist and as part of pop trio, Ben Folds Five.  Ben Folds took his talent as a gifted pianist and turned it into a highly successful career, and the sales of Ben Folds tickets is a testament to his popularity today.

The History of Ben Folds Tickets

Born in 1967 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ben Folds started playing a number of instruments at an early age. From the bass and drums to the guitar and the piano, Folds received just a year of formal training and enrolled in the music program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

After flunking out of college, he moved across the U.S. first setting up shop in Nashville as a songwriter and then moving on to Broadway, where he started in The Buddy Holly Story. After a short period in Miami as well, Ben Folds moved back home to North Carolina, where he began to form his concept for Ben Folds Five.

According to his vision for Ben Folds Five, this group would consists of himself on the piano as the singer/songwriter, and two other members on drums and on bass. He enlisted Robert Sledge on bass and Darren Jesse on drums, and Ben Folds Five was created.

Ben Folds Five released their first album, Ben Folds Five, in 1995; the album went gold in Japan and sold more than 195,000 copies. Rolling Stone magazine, in response to their debut album, named the group one of the "12 Artists on the Edge." After playing Lollapalooza in 1996, the group quickly developed a following and subsequently signed a deal with Sony/Epic Records.

Ben Folds Five released their sophomore album, Whatever and Ever Amen, in 1997, which interestingly enough, was recorded in Folds' living room. They released their third album in 1999.

Ready for a change, Ben Folds split from the group in 2001 to pursue his solo career. He released his first, solo album in 2001 entitled Rockin' the Suburbs. He then went on a successful, solo tour, selling plenty of Ben Folds tickets, and released his second album in 2002.

Folds formed a super group called The Bens in 2004 and the group released a four-song EP they wrote and recorded in just four days. The group went on to tour the U.S. for some time, much to the delight of Ben Folds tickets holders across the country.

Ben Folds Tickets: What to Expect

Ben Folds was one of the first pianists to give the piano "rock credibility." Ben Folds Five was unique in the fact that their group was minus a guitar and was considered to be a "piano-driven pop/alternative rock group" that was often called "nerd rock" group by the media.

Ben Folds Tickets: Who Should Attend?

Ben Folds often said, "One of my ambitions is to make the piano feel like a rock instrument again. I want the challenge of taking the format we use-piano, bass and drums-into rock arena territory."

Folds lovingly referred to his music as "punk rock for sissies" and has been compared to the likes of Elton John and Billy Joel.  The fans that buy Ben Folds tickets could not agree more!
