After seeing a saxophonist playing on the Ed Sullivan Show, Kenny G was enthralled, and at the age of ten, started playing his own sax.  The talent was obvious, as he earned a spot on Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra at the age of 17. 

After playing with the funk band Cold, Bold, and Together, as well as The Jeff Lorber Fusion, Kenny G signed with Arista Records in 1982.  His self titled debut album was released in July of 1982 and included a cover of the Eagle's song "I Can't Tell You Why."  His second and third studio albums would both achieve platinum status, and in 1986, he released his fourth studio  album titled "Duotones."  This album would catapult Kenny to international stardom and would sell over 5 million copies in the U.S. alone!  

In 1988, Kenny G released "Silhouette," his fifth studio album which reached number one on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and ultimately sell over 4 million copies.  His next studio album titled "Breathless" would become the number one best selling instrumental album ever with over 12 million copies sold!
