At the age of 16, Manny Pacquiao made his professional boxing debut. In his native country of the Philippines, he defeated Edmund Enting Ignacio. At the time, Pacquiao was less than five feet tall and weighed under 100 pounds. Despite his lack of size, Pacquiao would soon become a prominent name in boxing circles. He would win his first 11 fights before losing for the first time in 1996.

By 1997, Pacquiao had moved up to the Flyweight division. He captured the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation Flyweight title in June of 1997. A year later, Pacquiao won the WBC Flyweight crown. In his final bout as a Flyweight, Pacquiao lost his second fight in 1999 against Medgoen Singsurat.

Later that year, he moved up to the Super Bantamweight classification. Pacquiao would hold several world titles at this weight for more than three years.

During this stretch, he made his debut in the United States with a victory over Lehlohonolo Ledwaba in Las Vegas in June of 2001. In November of 2003, Pacquiao stepped up again to another fighting level. He made his debut as a Featherweight with a win over Marco Antonio Barrera in San Antonio.

In 2005, Pacquiao lost his initial fight as a Super Featherweight against Erik Morales. Since then, Pacquiao has reeled off 13 consecutive victories to run his all-time record as a pro to 52-3-2.

He has held championship belts at the Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight and Super Welterweight level since his last loss in the ring.

Manny Pacquiao has enjoyed several notable bouts in the last few years. In 2008, he scored a technical knockout in a hyped battle against Oscar De La Hoya. In the following year, he knocked out Ricky Hatton in the second round of a Light Welterweight title bout.

Pacquiao's last two fights have been at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. In those bouts, he defeated Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito.
