NFC Playoffs Tickets

With ten different conference champions since 2001, the National Football Conference (NFC) Playoffs have been quite competitive over the last decade. NFC Playoffs tickets are a winning entertainment option for any sports fan.

NFC Playoffs Tickets: Historical Overview

In 1970, the NFL split into two conferences after its merger with the AFL. Most of the existing NFL teams were placed into the NFC. From 1970-77, four squads from each of the two conferences reached the playoffs. The NFC Playoffs included the three division winners and a wild-card squad (the top second-place team in the conference). The four clubs faced off in the NFC Divisional Playoffs (semi-finals) for an opportunity to play in the NFC Championship Game on the following Sunday.

In 1978, the NFL added another wild-card team into the playoffs for each conference. Over the next 12 years, the two wild-card clubs battled for a chance to move forward to the divisional round.

In 1990, yet another wild-card squad was added to the format of the NFC Playoffs. After the league moved to four divisions in each conference in 2002, the playoff format was adjusted again. Now, there are just two wild-card teams in the playoffs, along with the four division champions.

NFC Playoffs Tickets: Memorable Highlights

In over four decades, the NFC Playoffs have produced some magical moments on the gridiron.

In the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoffs, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach stunned the two-time defending conference champion Minnesota Vikings with a dramatic "Hail Mary" touchdown pass in the final minute of the game.

Six years later, the Cowboys would be on the losing end of another memorable touchdown throw.

In the 1981 NFC Championship Game, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana threw the TD strike that became known as "The Catch" against Dallas. 49ers wide receiver Dwight Clark made the grab in the end zone in the final minute of the game to send San Francisco to its first Super Bowl.

Each and every year, the NFC Playoffs delivers some more memorable highlights to its history.

NFC Playoffs Tickets: 2011 Season

In the 2011 NFC title chase, the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers will try to stay on top in the conference. The Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears are just a few of the other squads in the NFC that could unseat Green Bay in 2011. NFC Playoffs tickets will provide the very best in pro football action once again this season.
