In over a century of football competition, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been a consistent winner. A solid foundation for the program was built in the first half of the 20th century. In the fifties, a new head coach would take the Buckeyes to another level. Woody Hayes (1951-78) won more than 76% of his games at Ohio State. In more than half of his years on the sidelines, Hayes led the Buckeyes to a top 10 finish.

More recently, current head coach Jim Tressel has guided OSU to eight top 10 finishes since 2002.  Overall, Ohio State has captured 35 Big 10 championships while reaching 42 bowl games.

Although not as dominant as the football team, the school's basketball program has also been quite successful. The Buckeyes have made 27 trips to the NCAA tournament. On ten occasions, Ohio State has reached the Final Four. The university has captured 23 Big 10 championships (19-regular season, 4-tournament) on the hardwood.  

Championship Seasons

In football, the Ohio State Buckeyes have won seven national championships. Five of the titles were won by Hayes.

On the basketball side, the 1959-60 team won the NCAA title under head coach Fred Taylor.

Ohio Stadium (capacity of 102,329) was opened all the way back in 1922!  With its unique horseshoe design, the stadium is an intimidating atmosphere for opposing squads to face. Led by quarterback Terrelle Pryor, the Ohio State Buckeyes will be out to secure a seventh consecutive top 10 finish in 2011. Conference battles against Wisconsin and Penn State will highlight this season's home schedule. Ohio State Buckeyes tickets will also be available for home games against Akron, Toledo, Colorado, Michigan State and Indiana.

In hoops, star forward Jared Sullinger will try to lead the Buckeyes to another Big 10 championship in 2011-12. The home slate will feature several conference matchups.
