TransPerfect Music City Bowl Tickets

In just over a decade, the Music City Bowl has become a viable college football postseason event. Music City Bowl tickets are always in high demand.

Music City Bowl Tickets: Historical Overview

The Music City Bowl began in Nashville in 1998. The first game was held at Vanderbilt Stadium. Since 1999, the Music City Bowl has taken place at LP Field (capacity of 69,143). The venue is also the home stadium for the NFL's Tennessee Titans.

Since its beginning, the Music City Bowl has had a conference tie-in with the regional Southeastern Conference (SEC). After previous arrangements with the Big East and Big 10 Conferences for the other spot in the game, the SEC opponent has been from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) since 2004.

Music City Bowl Tickets: Memorable Highlights

With four appearances in the Music City Bowl, the Kentucky Wildcats have been the most frequent visitors to Nashville. Kentucky and the Minnesota Golden Gophers are the only schools to have won more than a single Music City Bowl with two victories apiece.

Exciting finishes have been commonplace in the 13 years of the event. Nine of the games have been decided by eight points or less, including each of the last seven contests.

In 2008, the hometown Vanderbilt Commodores returned to postseason action for the first time in 26 years. Against the Boston College Eagles, Vandy had a chance to post its first winning season since the 1982 campaign. In the end, the Commodores prevailed in a 16-14 victory.

Two years later, another squad from the host state was involved in the strangest finish in the history of the Music City Bowl. In a back and forth game, the Tennessee Volunteers held a 20-17 lead over the North Carolina Tar Heels in the final minute of the fourth quarter. As North Carolina was moving into position to kick a tying field goal, the game appeared to end as Tar Heels quarterback T.J. Yates was trying to stop the clock on a spiked pass. While the time had expired on the scoreboard, a replay review showed that there was one second left. With a second life, North Carolina forced the game into overtime en route to a wild 30-27 victory.
